What hasn’t been said about this album? The avant-rock masterpiece, produced by the one and only Andy Warhol, written by the band (primarily Lou Reed), and displayed with only four words on the top above the Warhol name; Peel Slowly And See.

What was once a commercial flop, and a controversial and destructive mess, became a love of many, one of the most cherished rock albums ever, and the mother to many, many garage bands. Of course, I am talking about the controversial, dynamic and beautiful creation that is; The Velvet Underground & Nico.

Of course, an album as amazing and one that started some incredible things in the rock industry, this album was different. Very different. It’s producer, an amazing artist before his fame; Warhol. A German model, actress and amazing singer; Nico. A lyricist who knew no boundaries and disregarded controversy; Lou Reed. The driving guitarist behind the countless times European Son burst into guitar feedback; Sterling Morrison, and the drummer well known for always being up on her feet, literally, she never sat down drumming; Maureen Tucker.

All of these artists went on to do great things, which included Reed’s Transformer, a modern classic, Nico’s Chelsea Girl, well renowned and just as much loved as Transformer, as well as many other albums. Yet in this episode I discuss the beginning of it now.

You can listen to the link here the YouTube link to hear my thoughts on the album behind the oddly coloured fruit, crazy lyrics and a lot of feedback.
