Shabaka – Percieve Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace Album Review

This vinyl was gifted to me by Gary Kehoe, at Rollercoaster Records who has appeared as a guest on Logan Sounds Off before. Before receiving the album, I didn’t know the music of Shabaka but I was stunned by the incredible work that was created on this record.

Shabaka

This album sounds organic, vast, and overall has a depth to it that is unmatched by most other albums, especially jazz. I speak about that depth here, as well as some of my favourite tracks.

As a big fan of jazz music, especially experimental, I loved to hear this amazing album, as Shabaka and his guests on this album craft some of the best songs I have ever heard my life, and that is not just in the genre of jazz.

The outlook that is expressed on this album on amazing topics is both objective, as well as expressive. This may sound like a dense album to get into, but the beauty of this record is that it is so accesible, while at the same time maintaining the rare feature of being multidimensional.

This record is amazing, and I would strongly recommend that you pick it up on vinyl, because it sounds amazing on a speaker. I felt enveloped and wrapped in a tone created on this record. I think that in itself proves how amazing this album is.

Shabaka

I say this is a great album, but not in the normal sense. This really struck a chord that I haven’t explored before in jazz. The rawness is what adds to this track, the amazing simplicity, and yet complexity that us, as listeners find in this album.
