Interview with Billy Bragg

Today I am excited to share on Logan Sounds Off my interview with Billy Bragg; a punk icon who I am a big fan of!

In this interview, Billy and I discussed his first band Riff Raff, and how that impacted him and his career, and not only in a musical way. We discuss the importance of having peers as a young person both in the musical world, as well as in early life. Billy discusses what it was like to be in a band, and the humble nature of how they performed in the early days.

I interview Billy Bragg on Logan Sounds Off about music, playing live and his recommendations.

We also discuss the beginnings of Billy’s solo career, starting of with his debut album “Life’s A Riot with Spy vs. Spy”, and what that brought, including a cover of “A New England” by Kirsty MacColl. I ask about Billy’s reaction to this, as well as further achievements, including performing on Top Of The Pops playing the title track of his latest EP at the time Between The Wars, and what performing on Top Of The Pops meant to him, and how it still effects him to this day.

We also discussed Billy’s latest project: The Roaring Forty. We chat about the incredible stories behind gathering information for this humongous project and what it entailed. As well as this we discuss older gig itineraries, and his current work sorting through all of these.

On top of all this, we discuss Billy’s recommendations, and his upcoming gigs, including playing at Forest Fest, and what fans, fellow gig-goers as well as fest fans can expect to see at his performance.

I loved chatting to Billy; he was an incredible guest, and it was amazing to chat to him.
